World’s Best Beach At Your Doorstep
Grace Bay Beach Amazing Experience for All Ages
The last year has been a stellar one for both Grace Bay Beach and the island of Providenciales. The Turks and Caicos Islands outperformed the Caribbean region for stop-over arrivals by a landslide, with the runners up – Cayman Islands and Dominican Republic – trailing far behind with increases of 10.8% and 9.6%.
Looking back at visitor arrivals to the Turks and Caicos Islands, 2013 brought almost 1.1 million visitors onto the pristine talcum powder shores, and that number leaped to over 1.4 million visitors in 2014.
According to the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourism Statistics report for December 31, 2014, over 435,000 visitors came through Providenciales International Airport in 2014, an average of 36,000 visitors per month, and a record-breaking 49.9% increase over the previous year. The remainder came via cruise ship as Grand Turk is a port of call for many Caribbean cruises.
What’s Driving Turks and Caicos Tourism?
For starters, it appears that the lion’s share – over 80% or 351,623 visitors – of stop-over arrivals to the Turks and Caicos are coming from the US; that’s almost 52% over the previous year.
And those Canadians, just dying to escape the frigid weather for the tropical climes of Providenciales ratcheted up their arrivals by a staggering 49%. European traffic also grew by the same amount.
Visitors are finding Provo immensely accessible as airlines are offering more frequent service. Flight durations from northeastern United States are typically less than 3.5 hours, enough time to have a glass of bubbly and catch up on some reading. It couldn’t be more civilized!
But surely improved airline accessibility can’t take all the credit for that growth. What about those repeat guests? Those who have sampled Provo, swam on her staggeringly beautiful beaches, dined at her impossibly refined restaurants, and yielded to her warm embrace both comforting and rejuvenating.
Provo with her captivating charms plies both the movie star jet setters, and the bleary eyed parents of toddlers, by offering much more than a postcard beach vacation.
