Visiting Chalk Sound National Park

If you’re looking for a fun activity off the beaten path, a trip to Chalk Sound National Park is the perfect place. Located on Providenciales’ south side, this beautiful park is a brilliant turquoise-blue lagoon dotted with dozens of small marine limestone islands. The park’s algae-free, warm, and shallow waters (most areas less than five feet deep) make it a wonderful place to kayak or swim with the whole family.

Getting to Chalk Sound National Park

The national park is located on Providenciales’ south side, about a 16-minute drive away from Villa del Mar. Visitors can make reservations for a two-hour guided kayak tour of Chalk Sound National Park or visit Las Brisas Restaurant for hourly equipment rentals.

Sights In Chalk Sound National Park

The larger limestone islands that decorate the beautiful turquoise water inside Chalk Sound are home to indigenous Turks and Caicos Rock Iguanas that eat plants and insects found on the rocky cays. Bonefish and barracudas are a common sight in the park and the occasional lemon shark or stingray. Some cays without rock iguanas provide nesting habitats for Laughing Gulls. Mangrove wetlands, prickly pear cactus, and sisal plants are some of the vegetation that grows on the rocky islands in Chalk Sound National Park.

Nearby Beaches

Sapodilla Bay Beach and Taylor Bay Beach are located near Chalk Sound National Park and are considered excellent beaches for children due to their warm, shallow, and gentle waters.
